Ninja Master Kishimoto
An Interview with the creator of naruto
SHONEN JUMP: What were you like when you were younger (middle school or high school ?)
KISHIMOTO: I Had Manga on the brain, and I was constantly drawing, hardly ever doing my homework. In short, a bit of a brat.
SJ: how did growing up in a rural inviroment influence your manga, or your personality in general ?
K: This is a story set in slow-paced, relaxed setting, far away from capitalist society. My personality is very slow-paced too, so that's why I often just barely meet my deadlines for the manga.
SJ: What inspired you to create Naruto?
K: The influence of Japanese culture. I've always wanted to use things like ninja and samurai as material.
SJ: If you weren't a manga artist, what career would you have?
K: Sign Designer Creator
SJ: What was it like going to art school?
K: I trained in Plaster Mediums and the drawing of the human body to increase my skills as a design artist. I also learned graphic design, colouring, and perspectives.
